Emmanuel Chabrier, Maurice Ravel
A focus on the recordings made during Yutaka Sado’s tenure as chief conductor of the Lamoureux Orchestra – the longest in the ensemble’s history, spanning eighteen years. Under his leadership, the orchestra experienced a genuine revival after decades of relative stagnation, resuming its recording activities, rediscovering its founding values of openness to the public and musical daring, and not shying away from contemporary works and the blending of genres. In his Hommage album, Sado revisits the great works of French music premiered by the Lamoureux Orchestra, which have contributed to its legendary status, including Chabrier’s España, Joyeuse marche and the Bourrée fantasque, and Maurice Ravel’s Valses nobles and Boléro (French premiere in a concert version).
