The Britten Quartet had a relatively short career (just under a decade) but nevertheless left an indelible impression on the English chamber music scene. Formed not as a group of conservatory students but as an “all-stars band” of already accomplished soloists, the ensemble distinctly stood out for its vibrant and colorful interpretations. As the ensemble celebrates its fortieth birthday this year, we revisit its EMI discography that was previously not available digitally, starting with these incisive Dvořák recordings.
