From the artist: “The Bob Peak painting “Golden Eagles” suggests a grandeur and majesty that I felt I needed to evoke musically in something of an aerial tone-poem. In searching for musical metaphors to summon the imagery of birds in flight, rising, falling, soaring over forests and valleys at dusk amid red streaked clouds, I looked to a narrative of ballet-like airborne movements implying the exuberance and euphoria of the life of a bird of prey. I believe that Bob Peak also had a patriotic portrait in mind when he created this work, as the title is “Golden Eagles” rather than the more obvious “Bald Eagles” which he portrayed, that suggests a soundscape of Americana splendor, solemnity and reminiscence.” - Don Davis
