Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg

This is the only studio recording made by Herbert von Karajan with the Dresden Staatskapelle, and what a pity there were no others, as this collaboration causes sparks to fly! This recording was a revelation for many music lovers, as the richness of its orchestral palette gave Die Meistersinger the depth that previous recordings lacked and finally did justice to this lyrical masterpiece. The superb vocal cast, led by Adam, Kollo, Schreier, Donath and many other Wagner specialists, is equally impressive.
