The Encyclopédie de l’orgue, which we are publishing in its entirety in a superb 46-CD retrospective, stands as one of the most ambitious projects conceived during the LP era. Surveying nearly five centuries of repertoire on a diverse array of instruments played by the greatest virtuosos, this project - led by Olivier Alain (brother of Jehan and Marie-Claire) - remains a crown jewel of the Erato catalogue. To celebrate the reissue of this incomparable collection, we are digitally releasing two volumes recorded by the great master Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini. Dedicated to Italian Baroque music, they span from Frescobaldi to Scarlatti, and include the pivotal figure of Bernardo Pasquini with his daring sonatas for two organs, performed here partnering with Marie-Claire Alain. Other volumes in the Series will be released later.
