On December 31st 2025, we celebrate the centenary of Jaap Schröder, who died in 2020. The Dutch violinist was one of the leading figures in the Baroque music revival of the 1960s, alongside his fellow countrymen Gustav Leonhardt, Frans Brüggen or Anner Bylsma, with whom he formed the Concerto Amsterdam. Playing on period instruments, the ensemble was led by Jaap Schröder from violin for many years and left behind a legacy of magnificent recordings that completely transformed our perception of early music.
Available for the first time in a digital format, this album is a fascinating testament to this pioneering ensemble.
