Dame Imogen Cooper has received well-deserved recognition with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the latest Gramophone Classical Music Awards, celebrating an extraordinary career. The British pianist is set to bid farewell to the stage on February 16th with an all-Schubert recital at Wigmore Hall: a fitting finale for a preeminent champion of this repertoire, renowned for the luminous nuance and sensitivity of her touch. It was to Schubert that Imogen Cooper devoted her sole recording for Erato: a sparkling four-hand recital alongside Anne Queffélec. Originally issued as a 3-LP set, key works from this expansive program (including the Marches militaires, the Divertissement à la française, the Grand Duo Sonata, and the Grand Rondeau) are now available on streaming platforms for the very first time.
