This recording by the King’s Singers is the twin of To All Things a Season (which we re-issue digitally on August 20th) which was devoted to Lassus’ secular music. Recorded at the same time, How Excellent Is Thy Name focuses on his profuse sacred music, highlighting its unbridled inventiveness and harmonic sophistication. This album also includes one work by Josquin, the Praeter rerum seriem, parodied by Lassus in his Magnificat also featured on the recording.
