Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro

Evoking a golden era for Mozart in Vienna, this Figaro is one of the treasurable recordings that followed the first meeting, in the Austrian capital in 1946, between the legendary producer Walter Legge and Herbert von Karajan. European-born stars of the Vienna State Opera – Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Irmgard Seefried, Sena Jurinac and Erich Kunz – are joined by the superb Canadian bass-baritone George London, who burst onto the Viennese scene in 1949.
