Carlo Maria Giulini often described Brahms' Fourth Symphony as his favourite orchestral work. It is also the one he conducted most often, both in concert and on record, notably twice for His Master’s Voice: with the New Philharmonia Orchestra, and here with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
