Vincenzo Bellini: Norma

Bellini’s Norma is a tragedia lirica in two acts with a libretto by Felice Romani after Alexandre Soumet’s play. It was first performed at La Scala, Milan, on 26 December 1831 and has since become a cornerstone of the bel canto repertoire, featuring some of opera’s most demanding vocal writing, including the sublime soprano aria “Casta diva.”

In the title role—"one of the most taxing and wide-ranging parts in the entire repertory"— one of the most difficult in the soprano repertoire – shines Melody Moore.
