Sad news with the passing last week of the German singer Peter Seiffert, aged 71. One of the greatest Wagnerian tenors of his generation, he particularly excelled in the Romantic repertoire, and leaves us a beautiful discographic legacy, notably as Lohengrin or Tannhäuser in the milestone versions conducted by Daniel Barenboim with the Staatskapelle Berlin.
Peter Seiffert was a regular of the Deutschen Oper, whose company he had joined in his early years, singing on the Berlin stage for forty years. As an homage to this great artist, we are releasing, for the first time to digital partners, a varied recital of arias (Mozart, Bizet, Boito… and of course Wagner) with the orchestra he has sang along for so many years, conducted by Heinz Wallberg.
