Before the end of 2023, Elisabeth Leonskaja’s Warner discography will be made completely available to digital partners! This collection of works by Johannes Brahms is among the very rare repertoire in which we can hear Leonskaja’s talent as a lieder accompanist. There is an obvious artistic chemistry in this album recorded with her close friend Brigitte Fassbaender, including two major song cycles: the supreme Serious Songs, and the romances after Ludwig Tieck’s Die schöne Magelone, which are intertwined with unaccompanied readings of excerpts in prose from the poet’s book.
