'Joyce & Tony' wins the GRAMMY for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album

Joyce DiDonato and Antonio Pappano's double album recital, recorded live at Wigmore Hall, takes the coveted prize.

Joyce & Tony: Live at Wigmore Hall has been honoured as Best Classical Solo Vocal Album at the 2016 GRAMMY Awards in last night's star-studded ceremony. This spectacular album features Joyce DiDonato and Sir Antonio Pappano’s 2014-15 Wigmore Hall season opening recital, which moves seamlessly from Italian coloratura to the Great American Songbook with musical surprises and bubbly repartee at every turn.

The album was an instant favourite with the critics: The Guardian hailed the duo "a dream-team delight...DiDonato’s immaculate voice relishes every vowel sound, Pappano responds with pianistic wit and idiomatic invention."

This is Joyce’s second GRAMMY award win, following her 2012 award in the same category for Diva, Divo.
