George Li is the bright-eyed cover star of this month's Pianist magazine

Ahead of his highly anticipated debut album release, an in-depth interview with the Chinese-American virtuoso.

George Li is the bright-eyed cover star of Pianist magazine this month, ahead of his highly anticipated debut album release in October, a live recital from the Mariinsky Theatre (Haydn, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov) that he describes in this in-depth interview with Jessica Duchen as "a journey from darkness to light, from death to resurrection".

It was there in Russia that George Li became the lauded Silver Medal-winner of the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition at the age of 19. "Seeing people come up and say how powerful the music was and how much it affected them – that really stayed with me," he said of the competition experience. "It’s always been a dream to share how I feel about music with as many people as possible."
