For this well-known-piece by Schubert, the second movement of Piano Sonata No.20 in A, D.959, Cipa uses a short section of the melody, changing the mode and reharmonising the iconic polyrhythmic accompaniment figure. It is a gentle and humble piece, which at some moments has a quite dramatic undertone before completely dying off in the coda. It was recorded on a historic PH Pianette equipped with a piece of cloth for more gentleness in the tone.
