Beethoven’s late Sonatas, undoubtedly some of the most extraordinary compositions in the history of music, start with a highly unusual melody in the first bars of the first movement of Sonata op.109. For his recomposition, Cipa takes a fraction of this melody and transposes it into the minor mode, setting it against a newly written repetitive motif.
