On My Mind

For her sixth album, trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary blurs the lines between classical music and jazz. Highlighting a long history of shared influences—from Charlie Parker quoting Bizet to Ravel incorporating jazz rhythms—the album embraces a single, unifying idea: it's all music. At the heart of the project is Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s virtuoso Trumpet Concerto, recorded with the Orchestre National de France under Cristian Măcelaru. The jazz side pairs a quartet of exceptional musicians with the Hanson Quartet, all brought together by pianist Tim Allhoff’s bespoke arrangements. This album also highlights well-known pieces such as Amazing Grace, Grieg’s Morning Mood, Georgia on My Mind, and Tea for Two.
