"A very British friendship": Sir Adrian Boult conducts Ralph Vaughan Williams
The English maestro Sir Adrian Boult and his fellow countryman Ralph Vaughan Williams - a combination of composer and interpreter that could hardly be any better.
At the beginning of the century they met, became friends and in time Boult was to become one of the greatest Vaughan-Williams-conducters of the world. This 13 CD-collection includes the complete symphonic work of Vaughan-Williams (mostly in recordings with the London Philharmonic Orchestra), the Fantasias (like the famous Fantasia on "Greensleeves"), the Violin Concerto (with Yehudi Menuhin) as well as the Opera "The Pilgrim's Progress". CD 13 also includes about 25 minutes of rehearsal recordings.
