Disguised as a man of the people, Count Almaviva – ably supported by cunning Figaro – woos the beautiful but sometimes bristly Rosina. He succeeds, albeit with difficulty – having outwitted his avaricious rival Dr. Bartolo. A libretto full of ingenious twists and turns and sparkling wit, coupled with Rossini’s musical inventiveness and his unfailing sense of vocal brilliance make The Barber of Seville one of the best and most successful operas in the history of music!
