Renaud Capuçon’s Berg Concerto is BBC Music Magazine Choice

"More than any other soloist Renaud Capuçon thinks in long, expansive paragraphs, phrasing fluidly across the bare-lines, his ability to vary levels of emotional intensity within a single bow-stroke unparalleled in any other version."

BBC Music Magazine’s opinion is clear-cut : Renaud‘s interpretation in Berg Concerto A la Mémoire d’un Ange (In the memory of an Angel), recorded with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Daniel Harding, is definitely "The Best Recording" among "so many strong, viable alternatives".

The Concerto was composed in the memory of Manon, the daughter of one of Berg’s friend. Thus, according to BBC Music Magazine, "No version of the Concerto more compellingly engages the listener in the tragedy oft he Manon story than this.".
