The Original Jackets series: more than 100,000 copies sold
That old adage 'the original is always the best' rings true when it comes to the golden era of classical music recordings. Warner Classics shines the spotlight on the jewels of its rich and varied catalogue with the Original Jackets series, a highly collectable edition of milestone historical albums reissued with their iconic original artwork restored.
The Original Jackets series has grown from 20 to 65 titles in just a year, selling more than 100,000 copies worldwide. Among the many legendary artists featured are cellist Jacqueline du Pré (her immortal 1965 Elgar album) a teenage Yehudi Menuhin in breathtaking recordings from the 1930s, a veteran Otto Klemperer conducting the dynamic young pianist Daniel Barenboim, Karajan with his first Beethoven 9, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Gerlad Moore in their 1955 Winterreise, and many more.
With more titles to look forward to in February 2017, the Original Jackets series continues to present classic recordings in their authentic guise, old favourites to be returned to and discovered by a new generation.
