Karl Anton Rickenbacher passed away, aged just 73.

The Swiss conductor and pupil of Herbert von Karajan, passed away on February 28th 2014.

Rickenbacher, who was also taught by Pierre Boulez, had been the music director at the Westphalian Symphony Orchestra, chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the principal guest conductor of the Belgian BRT Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was described by Otto Klemperer, as ‘one of the most talented conductors of the younger generation’.
