Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin
Conductor Robert Irving’s career is closely associated with ballet, as he was appointed music director of the most important companies such as the Royal Ballet and the New York City Ballet.
We release here, in a brand new high resolution remastering, two scores inspired by major romantic piano works: Carnaval is a beautiful orchestration by the greatest Russian composers of their time of Schumann famous cycle, for the Ballets russes. As for Les sylphides, it uses various pieces of Chopin (here in the Roy Douglas orchestration) to create an ethereal ballet on the reverie of a young man surrounded by air spirits.
